The client was Cartoon Network, a TV-channel that focuses on – obviously – animated content. The project taken on by Meindbender involved the creation of their new Air IDs; short films that are screened between programs. The purpose of these ID shorties is to present the Cartoon Network logo and to promote the channel. Naturally, Cartoon Network wanted something that felt unique and fresh, so we thought that a realistically shaded approach in combination with crazy cartoon animation was the right way to go.
While he usually focuses on architectural work, Brian Looney from McFarland Davies Architects likes to try out something different every once in a while. A sunset render for example.
Brian explains: “In McFarland Davies Architects' architectural renderings, my goal is to show off the architectural design, with scene entourage often taking a back seat. However, I have found that fake-looking CG trees often pull the eye away from the intended focal points of the rendering. Natural and realistic-looking vegetation that reacts correctly with the scene's lighting is less likely to grab negative attention.”
