Hi JD,

Is there any way to see (both in camera and in reflections/refractions) ies generated sphere?
I've made quick test, material for wall is simple 2-layer one, first is 50 rough second 100. As you can see it makes great difference when hidden to reflections/refractions is disabled (middle light). I know in rhino it is not possible to assign ies material to sphere and rotate light, so use of spotlight is a must. Maybe some workaround is possible?

When wall material is carpaint it is totally invisible on left and center light.

Best regs.

Currently, there is no way to change it, but I'll see what I can do about that in the future.

Yes, you'll be able to use the Obj Props > Render Properties switches on generated lights in the next version.

JD, are there any chances that you can add option to generate *half* of sphere with adjustable size? What I mean is to be able to easy create eg. ceiling lights. Now it's really pain to do it.
I was wondering if blocks can't be used to set direction and rotation of light...

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out -- as you see from the 2.7.25 announcement, I was too close to release to do anything with this idea yet. As far as setting direction of lights, please let me know if light handling in the new build helps.

Thanx JD, hope this idea will work.
For now visible sphere solves problem with materials and glow and that's most important.
Do you think that larger sphere (~5cm) will make caustics resolve faster?

As noted in the announcement, 2.7.27 now has a new Maxwell_SetIesDiameter command that you can use to set the size of the generated IES sphere.
