Please add a check to search for duplicate material ID colours that are shared between different materials. Give the user a warning if duplicate colours are found and if so, allow for an automatic global change to eliminate all of the duplicates.

Also, I think that cloned materials should not inherit the material ID colour of the source. I clone a lot of materials and often miss out on changing the material ID colours before launching the render.

it is still important to have the option to keep a ID color fixed to a material though, eg. for compositing purposes, when exchanging footage.

but an alternative "100% indivdual random mode" would do the job for most of us i guess.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to see the obj-id or any other channel in Fire? Then it would be easy to see if any objectcolors collide.

It would make it easier to decide z-depth as well.

I agree, it could have an option to turn the warning on/off. The idea about being able to toggle different channels in Fire is pretty interesting as well.
