At In Efecto we've got a renderfarm on win7x64 witch is used both for Mental Ray and MaxwellRender.
I also setup a computer only used for MX manager and monitor apps (8Go DDR3, Intel Dual Core, good HDD and also a win7x64).

But we've got many problem on network rendering, I often reboot manager / monitor and sometimes rendernode on each lame of the Rfarm... So annoying that's why I would like to know the best configuration to use MX network suite.
Linux on the farm ? Linux for the manager machine ? Both ? Other ?

same problem here, so i hope you find an answer. I too end up manually going to each computer and restarting the rendernode pretty frequently.

I have found that closing and re-opening MANAGER often works well.

The most elegant solution for supporting multiple renderers on the same hardware is to use a 3rd party render manager.

I'm not sure if it matters. I've done it both ways.
