I'm really exited to present our latest maxwell project.

The project

Its a vignette for the upcoming music festival "By:Larm"
If you want to know more about the festival take a look at there home page: http://www.bylarm.no/pages/eng

In tight collaboration with the By:Larm designers we developed a rough concept, where the idea was to follow the wooden brick from creation to finish. Instead of replicate the real process with humans creating the cube, we decided to go for a more, dark and dirty mechanical style.
The time on this project was limited, but the need for high quality renders was so essential, so there was nothing else to do then fire up the maxwell.

Software:

3Ds max 2013
Maxwell render
Realflow
Nuke
Photoshop

Music by
band: NONONO
song:«Like the Wind»

Hope you all will enjoy this little animations, all feedback is welcome as we still need all the critics we can get to keep improving our maxwell workflow.
Also a big thanks to everyone helping us on this forum, great stuff!

This is simply outstanding, one of the better works of CG I've seen in ages...

Yes yes, timing and style is perfect, would be great to see some breakdown / wires of the paintbrush. Feels like the textures are animated in places, is that an illusion or some workflow trick... hmmm very curious..

Thanks for the great feedback guys!

We have decided to create a little behind the scene on this project.
Will take some time to stitch together since we have other projects running simultaneously. But
I'll make sure it contains some of our 3ds/maxwell workflow :)

To answer the animated texture part, yes we have used animated textures, but only on the box when it gets painted, and on the "B" in the last scene :)
Everything else is actual mesh.
