Looking forward to the updated plugin as well. I'm moving from C4D to Modo, can't finish that move until then. I'm guessing the update will happen at the same time the MR 2.7 is launched ;-)

Just saw that Maxwell 2.7 is out and the 2.7 plugin for modo is "being uploaded" at the moment! Does anybody know if this will be for 601 then?! (Hopefully!!!)

Thx
Marco

To answer my question myself: The new 2.7 plugin is working just fine in modo 601!

Really????

I haven't been able to get any Maxwell plugins to work in Modo since v501
lol just tried the 2.7 plugin in Modo 602 sp2 Modo crashes on launch.

FormZ, Cinema & Lightwave plugins have all consistently worked since v1.x but not Modo's.

I can get it to work, more or less, as it crashes a lot when using Fire :-(

Hello,

I am working on to clean all the compatibility issues, but on the machines I can test the plugin it is very stable.

If you experience crashes please help me by answering two questions:

- Do you run it under Windows or OSX

- Do you have other modo plugins installed (maybe it is a conflict with the other plugin)

Hello gadzooks,

Actually the plugin file is the same for both (501 and 601) versions (so the current 2.7000 version is for 501 and 601 too.)

It is a nice feature of the modo SDK that the plugins are "theoretically" forward compatible -> we don't have to recompile the files for every new release. Unfortunately this time it was not true I had to recompile the plugin and do some changes (also Luxology had to do some changes for modo 601 SP1) to maintain compatibility.

Grass is not available in the current version, I will try to implement it for both 501 and 601. (Not sure if it is not possible for 501 or not....).

Hey Marton - thanks in general for developing the plugin.

I'm in the midst of a project, so I can't spend time now on the Modo+Maxwell stuff, but in a few days I'll document the issues I have. Hopefully that will help a bit.

Dear Marton,
Dear Modo Maxwell users,
could anyone of you tell me if the modo-maxwell plugin is working fine now with 601 (as modo has just released 601 SP2 with SP2?)
or does the maxwell - modo plugin (with maxwell 2.7) still have compatibility issues with 601 (SP2) ??? crashes???

I am actually working on Mac OSX 10.6.8

To use grass i have to do export everything to maxwell studio and use it there, the plugin has not yet the grass feature, if i understood you well?

thanks!

best regards
p

Hello Pietro,

Here the plugin works fine with modo 601 SP2, but here it was stable under SP1 too.

It is hard to fix possible bugs if I can't replicate the problem here.

If you experience problems it is important to know:
- Do you use OSX or Window?
- Do you use other plugins? For example mARCH? (Do you still have the problem if you disable the other plugins - or Kits)
- What have you tried to change on the scene before the crash?
- Do you experience crashes on new scenes too?

Had some time to test the plugin. Didn't go too well. This is what happened:

Exported all content as obj's from Cinema4d, imported them in Modo, created materials and linked them to the MXM-files created using C4D. Exported a few times to Studio as I proceeded linking materials, and that worked fine. Then I created two new materials inside Modo, saved them to the folder with the other mxm-files. Subsequently Modo crashed every time I tried to export to studio.

After this I couldn't even export the old C4D scene to studio either. So now I'm rebuilding the scene in C4D :-(

Here's my spec: Windows 7 64, Modo 601SP2, no plugins besides GOZ + Modo.

Could you please send me this scene file + mxm materials to test?

But first: What happens if you hide the mxm material items what you have created in modo? Does it still crash? If not please try to switch on these mxm items one by one. Maybe the plugin can't read the mxm file correctly.... If so please send me that mxm file.

Thanks,

Márton

Hey Marton - unfortunately I can't share the file, but I will test the things you ask about today. If possible I'll try to recreate the issue in a similar scene.
